I am an interdisciplinary artist, programmer, and inventor working and playing in Ames, Iowa (not really as paradoxical as it sounds). Though I moved around a lot growing up, I came to Iowa State University in 1997 and kept finding excuses not to leave.
I graduated from ISU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2001, where I was already exploring atypical uses of technology. Before graduation I cofounded Micoy, a company specializing in immersive video technologies. As acting CTO, I developed five patents (2 granted, 3 pending) for panoramic stereoscopic 3D video capture and display technologies. I have since returned to Iowa State to complete my Master of Fine Arts degree in Integrated Visual Arts, focusing on novel uses of technology in the creation, display, and presentation of interactive fine art.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have accumulated extensive knowledge of software and technology development in a variety of fields and environments. I've applied my technical talents to projects ranging from PC video games and interactive art installations to computer controlled machinery. I have worked with small start-up companies, corporations, and large academic institutions. I have completed large projects unaided, as well as managed production teams of up to 14 people. A detailed educational and professional history, including a list of publications and exhibitions, can be found in my resume (pdf), or feel free to email me directly.
